Yes it’s a Buck knife! But if you dig a little deeper you will find a certificate of authenticity, not for the knife, but for the knife holder.

This is a handcrafted, handmade knife holder/opener made by Jay Burdick. This one is No. 34 of 300 made so far. You will see its number inscribed on the holder, but you have to find it. Let us know if you wimp out and quit trying and we’ll tell you where it is. By the way, Jay also put the number on the end of the box, in case you are the type to save the boxes of one-of-a-kinds.

Jay (a friend of ours in St Croix), has spent years designing and perfecting this holder. He even has a patent on it. The concept is simple, it allows for one hand operation of the knife. From closed to open and open to closed and, when not in use, firmly locked into the holder.

Opening Instructions
First simply slide the holder onto your belt using the square loop located on the side of the holder.
Second grasp the bottom of the knife between your thumb and index finger
Then pull the knife out and away from the holder (away from your leg)
The knife blade should open and lock into place

Closing Instructions
Follow the above in reverse
Place the point of the knife blade on the bottom foot of the holder

Press the knife blade release then fold in making sure the head of the knife goes under the curved head of the holder
The knife blade will snap securely in place and the knife will lock into the holder.
It is now ready for the next use.

A little practice is required for a smooth clean operation.

Don’t forget to keep your fingers and toes clear of the blade, it is extremely SHARP.
It is, after all, a Buck knife.
